Q. Which mental health conditions can qualify for State Disability Insurance (SDI)?

Q. Is my claim guaranteed to be approved?

No. Claims are approved by the state and based on many factors. 

Q. If my claim is approved, how long does it take to receive disability payments?

The state usually provides an answer within 2 weeks (10 business days). However, sometimes it takes them longer.

 

Q. If approved, how much money will I receive?

The state calculates payments based on past work history. Generally, persons receive up to 70% -100% of their past income. There is a cap on payments that change regularly. 

Q. How often do I receive disability payments?

The state pays every two weeks (after the first week of disability). Sometimes the payments are delayed.

Q. Am I allowed to move out of state?

Yes.

 

Q. If I am on unemployment, can I also receive disability?

No, you cannot be on unemployment and disability simultaneously.
